During the period of the Republic of China, detective Zhang Yiren was ordered to investigate a bizarre murder case in the town of Taiping. The villagers believed it to be the vengeful spirit of a female ghost seeking revenge. As Zhang Yiren delved into the investigation, more people were killed, and the deaths were horrifying. Eventually, with the help of a local beggar named Gouzi, Zhang Yiren finally brought the culprit to justice.
